MonoMoney Sunday Round-Up
I thought I would start a new weekly feature here at MonoMoney - a round-up of my favourite posts from other blogs about personal finance.
ShoeMoney lists his top four reasons for not owning an iPhone. From someone who isn’t big on “must-have” gadgets, it’s refreshing to read something that isn’t gushing about the iPhone. His four reason are:
- Coverage, or lack thereof
- Lack of a keyboard
- iTunes locked in
- Poor battery life
Out of all of them, number 3 is the one that irks me the most. I really hate it when companies try and dictate what software I should use. Jump to the post.
Zen Habits has a great post on finding the work you love. He lists five things you need in order to find that seemingly elusive job, as well as nine ways to go about getting there. Jump to the post.
JD over at Get Rich Slowly has a guest post on productivity and a review of the book Getting Things Done by Philip Brewer from Wise Bread. It’s a great review and has made me want to check out the book for myself (especially seeing I am working for one of those dysfunctional work-places he mentions). Jump to the post.
I Will Teach You To Be Rich had a very short but very funny (and informative) post last month about not listening to the news regarding investing. Jump to the post.
Wisebread had a stellar post titled Grocery Shopping for the Cheap and Lazy, and it was like a breath of fresh air. I can’t tell you how many posts and articles I have read about planning your meals - like, Andrea Dickson (the author), I despise meal planning. I want to eat what I want the day I want it. Jump to the post.
Finally, CJ over at Wise Money Matters lists five unwise but common financial things people seem to do. They are:
- Borrow from your retirement fund.
- Falling for those ‘buy 10 get 1 free’ promotions.
- Use a home equity loan to pay off debt.
- Buy the most expensive house you can afford.
- Taking investment advice from family and friends.
I hope you enjoyed the first Weekly Sunday Round-Up, and I hope you found those articles as inspiring and as useful as I have. I have enjoyed sharing them with you.
Do you have any favourite posts on finance you would like to share?
